A Bit About Me

Since I first started recording songs in my bedroom as a teenager I’ve known that I wanted to be involved in music for the rest of my life. Since then I’ve had a varied journey through the industry – from the early days with my first band to being Mercury Prize–nominated with my project East India Youth, from playing as a session musician in the studio and on tour to co-writing and producing, from serving from behind the merch table to managing tours. I’ve released records on my own label through an artist services deal, as well as with independent labels such as XL Recordings.

I’ve worn a lot of different hats in the music world, but the thread through it all has been the same: wanting great music to exist, and supporting artists – whether on the creative side or in navigating the business that comes with it.

My Journey

Beginnings 2005 - 2012

East India Youth 2012-2016

Independence 2016-2019

Diversification 2020 - 2024

Today 2025 -

I started recording songs in my bedroom at 14, making the artwork and figuring out how to release them myself.

By 16 I was playing shows in Southampton, learning how to put gigs together and connect with an audience.

With my band Doyle & The Fourfathers, we self-released two EPs and an album. After sending out our first EP, Marc Riley played us on BBC 6 Music, and just two weeks later we were invited to do a live session – a huge step for us at such a young and inexperienced stage.

These early years taught me how to build things from scratch – DIY releases, grassroots promo, hustling for press and radio.

I shifted focus to electronic music and created Total Strife Forever, which became my debut album as East India Youth. It was released on Stolen Recordings in 2014 and nominated for the Mercury Prize later that year.

Signing to XL Recordings for my second album Culture of Volume (2015) brought bigger campaigns – I played shows and festivals across mainland Europe, Russia, Japan, Australia, and the USA/Canada.

I saw first-hand how the industry works at scale: negotiating deals, navigating press, building a live team and keeping a project moving under pressure.

By 2016, after years of relentless work, I hit burnout and took a step back. Living through that period gave me a real understanding of the pressures artists face, and it shapes the compassionate, balanced way I approach management now.

In taking time to rebuild, I found new independence and chose to self-manage and release music under my own name.

Self-released four volumes of ambient music directly to my audience via Bandcamp, experimenting with new ways of connecting outside of the label system.

Began sharing my experience publicly – giving talks at festivals including Iceland Airwaves and Sørveiv in Norway about artists’ mental health, speaking on building artist identity at a British Council music conference in Moscow, and publishing writings on music, streaming algorithms, and the ecological impact of touring for The Quietus and Metro.

Negotiated an Artist Services deal with The Orchard to release Your Wilderness Revisited (2019)

Oversaw every detail – from budgets, contracts and timelines to appointing promotional teams and steering the marketing strategy – which gave me a toolkit I now bring to supporting others.

I began producing and collaborating more, which naturally led to supporting other artists in new ways.

Produced Anna B Savage’s debut album A Common Turn and Lottie Brazier’s debut single.

Joined Orlando Weeks’ live band and co-wrote/co-produced his third solo album LOJA.

Tour managed Anna B Savage’s first tour and Katy J Pearson’s second album headline run – dealing with everything from schedules and budgets to making sure everyone felt looked after on the road.

Continued releasing music with Tough Love Records, including Great Spans of Muddy Time.

These projects showed me that what I enjoy most is helping other artists bring their vision to life and keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes.

It became clear to me that the next chapter in my life should be to help artists achieve their ambitions, using the wide experience I’ve gained and the networks and relationships I’ve built along the way. My goal isn’t simply to do the work on behalf of artists – I aim to be transparent throughout the whole process, so that understanding the mechanics of the industry empowers them to make their own decisions and retain ownership of their vision and trajectory.

I bring significant experience in the creative aspects of music – from producing and songwriting to performance and live music direction – as well as the practical side of the business. I work closely with artists on every stage of their career – from release strategy, promotion, touring and production, to wider career planning – offering guidance while ensuring their creative control stays at the forefront. Having navigated independent label groups, self-releases, international touring, production, and touring logistics myself, I bring a practical, empathetic perspective to supporting artists in both the creative and business aspects of their work.

Ultimately, my approach is about partnership – helping artists translate ambition into action,  and sharing the tools and insights that allow them to confidently shape their own careers.
